Oldman River
Oldman River is a major southern Alberta stream north of Lethbridge, encompassing the Oldman Reservoir outflow and mainstem stretches downstream through Hwy. 22 to the South Saskatchewan River, plus numerous tributaries. Regulations vary by reach and season: some reaches (e.g. mainstem from Sec. Rd. 509 downstream to the South Saskatchewan, open May 8–Mar. 15) allow bait, while many other sections have bait bans during spring–fall and season-specific closures. Species limits include northern pike generally 3 fish (on some reaches 3 with a 63 cm minimum), yellow perch 15, lake whitefish 10, burbot 10, mountain whitefish commonly 5 over 30 cm (but closed on some reaches), trout limits ranging from 0 to 2 trout with size protections for rainbow/cutthroat (over 35 cm) and brown trout (over 40 cm in some reaches), and walleye/sauger 3 in combination with a walleye minimum around 50 cm on affected stretches.
